Tulips are my favourite flower to paint. They never look the same two days running. They grow after they have been cut and dance around the vase they have been placed in. I have even had a vase of tulips alter its shape whilst I have been drawing it - a very frustrating experience. ‍ They are a flower that never stops giving, from the tightness of the green pointed buds, through the over abundant stage of the fully opened blossom and on into the many stages of dying and drying. I have tulips in my studio that arrived there two years ago and they are still changing and creating drawing and painting opportunities.
